Islay
Islay is rich in history, at one
time the seat of the Lords of the Isles, it is called the Queen of
the Hebrides and is much greener than the other islands in the
group. It is home to 10 working distilleries, farms, nature
reserves, clean beaches, majestic cliffs, a long and varied
coastline and a great variety of
wildlife.
It is
accessible by road & car ferry, and by air (direct flights) from
Edinburgh & Glasgow airports.
If not bringing a car, there are local bus services, bike hire, taxis and car hire.
Islay65
Islay65 is located in the heart of Port Ellen village, about 30m from the sea.
Bus
Citylink operate a regular bus service from Glasgow to Kennacraig which meets most ferry sailings. Timetables should be checked in advance
Air
Loganair operate direct daily return flights from Glasgow & Edinburgh International Airports. Timetables should be checked in advance as flights may be seasonable.
Islay Bus
The island has a local bus service. Timetables should be checked in advance as busses do not meet all ferry sailings.
Car Rental
Car rentals offer pick up and drop off facilities at ferry terminals and the airport.
Jura
There is a regular vehicle ferry service between Port Askaig on Islay and Feolin on Jura. Timetables should be checked in advance.

Car Ferry
Calmac operate regular roro car ferry services from their mainland terminal at Kennacraig on the Kintyre peninsula to the Islay ferry terminals at Port Ellen and Port Askaig. There is also a service from Oban to Kennacraig via Port Askaig. It is best to check timetables and to book in advance.
